When you love chocolate but you’re trying to stay in ketosis!

As recovering chocoholics, we have always looked forward to Easter. But this will be our first Easter on the ketogenic diet and we have been a little bit worried about how to handle it.

The good news is that dark chocolate fits the ketogenic diet as long as its above 80% cacao. Montezuma and Ombar do a delicious 100% cacao chocolate bar but it’s not for the faint hearted! Blood Sugar Support

And we have plenty of delicious dark chocolate options available. Alternatively, if you are planning on indulging in the sugary sweet treats, we recommend using berberine or a blood sugar support supplement or apple cider vinegar to slow down your blood sugar response.

If you must have milk or white chocolate, then you can get creative by making your own chocolate! It really is quite simple as you only need to melt cacao butter, cacao powder, vanilla and stevia, erythritol or xylitol together and then pour into molds to set.

Martina Slajerova has a fantastic book on fat bombs: ‘Sweet and Savory Fat Bombs: 100 Delicious Treats for Fat Fasts, Ketogenic, Paleo, and Low-Carb Diets’; including a number of chocolate recipes that are super delicious and ridiculously easy to make! We created our own chocolate fat bombs inspired by this book with hidden raspberries and blueberries (pictured above).
