essential biohacks for 2018

Here's an overview of Paleo FX and Find out about the latest Biohacks and how they can work for you

We are still reeling from the incredible Paleo FX conference in Austin in which the leading health innovators, authors and influencers unite to share the latest in functional health, fitness and nutrition.

It was an absolute blast and a real hub for biohackers, fitness enthusiasts and high fat low carb followers—we felt like we found our tribe!

Re-Writing the Health Script

In between outstanding seminars led by Paul Chek, Elle Russ, Aubrey Marcus, Mark Sisson, David Perlmutter, JJ Virgin, not to mention many others; we participated in functional movement workshops with the Chek Institute, Primal Play, Mike Salemi and the Onnit Academy.

East Meets West—Is a symbiotic relationship possible?

Stand out talks included Paul Chek’s philosophy for optimised health in which he epitomises east meets west—think western doctor meets Amazonian shaman! As he synergises the teachings of the often polarised disciplines, creating a harmoniously holistic practice for being, eating and moving. Such a genius! Find out more about his his holistic approach at the Chek Institute.

A holistic approach that takes every factor into account—from nutrients to mindset and from environment to genes—is the future of modern health and was the underlying message from Paleo FX.

From Viking Ninja to Primal Play

And we got functionally physical in between seminars! Darryl Edwards of Primal Play had us playing bear crawl tag; Onnit’s very own Viking Ninja taught us how to work out with a mace; Aleks Rybchinsky taught us how by observing babies you could learn the fundamentals of proper posture and natural movement. Mike Salemi is a wizard with kettlebells and Bulgarian bags and led some epic sessions; Emily Johnson gave us a lesson in handstand technique and we even caught a morning workout led by Ben Greenfield himself!

Working out with Ben Greenfield

And so we were on the hill opposite the conference centre and Ben Greenfield told us it would just be a ‘warm up’…as you can imagine, his idea of a warm up is slightly different to that of a regular person! He had everyone on their knees in sweats…I suppose his idea of a warm up is a full blown workout for the rest of us! He started off with meditation and downward dogs and all of a sudden we were squatting and lunge jumping and doing slow motion press ups…

Genius High-Fat Snacks and other paleo goodies

We discovered some incredible ketogenic and paleo friendly snacks that fuelled us though the conference, including: Fat Fit Go, Epic Bars, Keto Kookies, Onnit Matcha Chai Latte, Kion Coffee, Organify—we are currently addicted to their cordyceps rich Red Juice—an incredible bone broth latte from…and of course met the awesome guys at Kegenix and the Fit Keto Girls who run the 40-day keto challenge! We also discovered the best natural moisturiser ever by Balm of Gilead…made with essential oils, coconut oil and beef tallow!

PEMF: Pulsed Electro Magnetic Fields

PEMF therapy is essentially like gently electrocuting yourself! It’s a form of magnetic therapy using Electro Magnetic fields generated by copper coils. It targets the body at a cellular level and hones in on particular areas of pain or injury.

Red Light Therapy

Red light therapy has tremendous cellular repair benefits that helps build collagen, support skin repair (reducing wrinkles) and reduce inflammation in injuries. It even helps non-healing wounds repair. Infrared light can even alleviate seasonal affective disorder (SAD)—it really is a miracle therapy!

Check out our friends at Red Light Rising to get your very own red light–we got the Full Stack and it’s amazing!

HBOT: Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

HBOT is a way of giving the body more oxygen by administering pure oxygen at twice the normal atmospheric pressure inside a chamber. It helps the body recover from non-healing wounds, inflammation, carbon monoxide poisoning, infection, chronic fatigue, ME, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, heart attacks, strokes, Alzheimer’s and sports injuries. HBOT is also amazing for energy production, as the mitochondria (energy factories in the cells) love it so much; the therapy successfully heals sufferers of chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia and ME.

Find out more about how the ketogenic diet and HBOT can heal your body and try HBOT for yourself at the 58 Molton Street Clinic in London.

Collagen is the protein that binds our tissue together. It is essential for encouraging cellular, muscular and skin-tissue repair.
